Discovery!

After finishing my watch-through of Star Trek shows from TOS to Voyager, I decided to skip Enterprise and finally watch Discovery. I just finished, and I have to gush a little because:
-The mycelia and the tardigrade are some of the most WTF biology I can think of from anything anywhere and it's so hilariously wrong and weird I can't help but love it :D It's so far beyond even trying to suspend disbelief. I would've accepted "wacky space fungi" but no, these are apparently fungi from Earth, as in, eukaryotes, like humans, DNA-based, that span the universe, that's just ???!?! -- but even as it makes no sense, it totally is a parallel with how fungal hyphae form networks *exactly* like this in forest soil that are like highways for bacteria and which I've always loved. And fungi never get enough love in biology. So, it makes zero sense but I totally love it and the fact that there's such a major biological component to the plot. Fungi \o/
-I am in love with Stamets and omg seriously, Stamets/Culber is like someone wrote a canon ship custom made for me. Seriously. Brilliant, snarky scientist who will readily, recklessly use himself as a test subject for a crazy science experiment, with a boyfriend who is an actual medical doctor and will be there by his side to worry and patch him up again? SO MUCH YES! <3 I hope there is good fic out there because they didn't have half as much screen time as I wanted and I need a million missing scenes and hurt/comfort fics. Ahhh. I... almost find myself considering writing some, and that's a huge thing, because I haven't written anything that's not Steve/Tony in years.
(There was a lot of other cool stuff too; Burnham is epic awesome and Tilly is growing on me and Saru is somehow adorable, and it's all very beautiful. And some stuff I didn't like so much, such as the show revolving around the war, and I found the Klingons boring, but let's be honest, I've found them boring like 80% of the time in all Trek shows. But those two things above are what really sold the show to me and I can't wait to see what happens next!)
